BAY CITY, MI — Midland is hosting a food giveaway Monday, Jan. 16, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a special day of service that pays homage to King’s work as a civil rights activist and leader.

The food distribution event will take place at Dow Diamond, 825 E. Main St. A mix of fresh and nonperishable food items will be given away to those in need.

Registration will start at 8 a.m., and distribution will kick off at 9 a.m., running until all remaining food and resources have been distributed. Attendees can preregister for the event by texting “EFPN” to 1-866-474-3663 or by calling the Arc of Midland at 989-631-4439.

This event is set up as a drive-through distribution. Because of this, volunteers will put food directly into vehicles. Organizers ask that attendees make sure there is space in their vehicles for the food items. Attendees may not leave their vehicles during the distribution.

Anyone is welcome to attend. No identification or verification of income is required.

The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, Corteva Agriscience, Midland County Emergency Food Pantry Network, The Arc of Midland and the Great Lakes Loons are hosting the event.
