SANIBEL, Fla. — A Barred Owl with a right wing fracture admitted from Okeechobee is on the road to a slow recovery at the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife.

Hospital staff noted that the owl was also severely dehydrated.

Veterinarians at CROW administered pain medication and supportive fluids, splinted/wrapped the wing, and placed a tail guard to protect important flight feathers.

Staff continues to closely monitor the owl’s fracture, along with carefully administering physical therapy and supportive care. As soon as staff is able to take more x-rays, a plan for surgery will be made.
